We perform Bone Marrow aspiration and Biopsy. Bone marrow is the soft tissue found in the hollow interior of bones. In adults, marrow in large bones produces new blood cells. Examining a sample of bone marrow will shed light into many of the blood disorders such as anemia and abnormal WBC and platelets. Bone marrow biopsy will also aid in the diagnosis cancers of the hematopoetic cells such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. A sample of bone marrow is taken from the flat part of the pelvic bone from the back, under local anesthesia. The procedure takes only about 10-15 minutes and patients are allowed to drive back home and return to normal activities the same day.
